2008 AAA Baseball Game #3

Jack played in his third game of the 2008 baseball season against the A's. Due to our schedule, this is actually the first game of the year that both Sharon and I have sat all the way through together.

Jack has been hitting lead off through the first three games. He did very well at the plate. I had taken him to the batting cage in the morning before the picture day. He went 3 for 4. Jack had an infield single in his first at bat and eventually came around to score the team's first run. In his second at bat, he hit the ball very hard into right center and then stole second. Breaking hard off second on a ball hit back up the middle, Jack crashed into the shortstop and the two of them went down in a heap. After they got everyone up again, the umpire called Jack out for interference. In this third at bat, Jack chased a ball in the dirt with a full count to strike out. He hit a ball back up the middle in his last at bat that the pitcher deflected; he eventually came around to score.

Jack played shortstop for five innings. Oddly, the ball was never hit to him. This continues a pattern for year. In all the games they have played so far, most of the balls are being hit to the right side. The batters are still way behind pitchers at this point in the season. I expect this to change as the season progresses.

With some pretty good pitching in the last three innings, the Padres won by a score of 17 to 6. Their record for the season is 1 win and 2 losses.
