2008 AAA Baseball Game #2

Jack played in his second game of the 2008 baseball season against the Astros. It is going to be a long year. His team does not have any strong pitchers. At this level in little league, pitching is essential.

Jack hit the ball a lot better this week. He was only 1 for 3, but all of the balls were hit hard. He flied out to deep right in the his first at bat, lined the ball very hard directly at the second baseman in his second at bat and drove the ball between first and second in his last at bat. Jack scored from first on an infield error in the fifth inning.

Jack played shortstop for all five of the innings. His fielding was solid, but not spectacular. There were a couple of balls hit into short left field that if he had held on to would have been great catches. The pitchers are walking so many batters and there are so many passed balls that it is very hard for the fielders to keep their heads in the game.

Jack's team lost by the score of 22 to 12. The game only went 5 innings, but it was not over until 7:45 p.m. It was getting very dark. Their record is now 0 wins and 2 losses.
