Kevin Martin plus NBA Power Rankings 2009-2010 Week 2

Before the season started, I was working on a blog post that I never finished projecting the number of games that Kevin Martin would play this year (<60) and the number of games that the Kings would win (about 21). Never in my darkest nightmares did I think that Martin would go down after only 5 games and be projected to miss the next 26 games!

Watching parts of the King's games on Saturday and Sunday night, I am starting to think that they might actually be a better without Martin. The Kings look more dangerous with Udrih and Evans in the backcourt than they did with Evans and Martin.

The Kings jumped five spots from last to 25th in Marc Stein's weekly power rankings of NBA teams, ahead of the Timberwolves, Warriors, Grizzlies, Nets and Knicks.

Never thought the Kings would move out of the No. 30 basement this quickly. Also never imagined they could follow up a home win over Memphis with Nocioni's arrest and Kevin Martin's injury . . . and then win in Utah.
