2011 Outlaws Baseball Tournament #1 Day #2

After three basketball games on Saturday, I got Jack up a little before 6 a.m. on Sunday morning to play baseball with the Outlaws at Mather. After the pool play on Saturday, the Outlaws were seeded third and played the Concord Patriots. Several players on the Patriots played for the Concord Cal Ripken Team that Jack played against in July.

This is the first baseball game that Jack has played in almost three months. He looked very tentative at the plate. Jack was 0 for 2 with a walk and two strike-outs swinging. In the top of the first, Jack walked on six pitches. He stole second and ended the inning there when Josh struck out looking. In the top of the third, Jack struck out swinging on four pitches. In top of the fifth, he struck out swinging a second time on five pitches.

In the field, Jack played six innings in centerfield. He had one assist. In the top of bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded and one out, a soft fly ball dropped in front of Jack. The runner tried to score from second. Jack threw a strike to Trevor at catcher about chest high and a foot up the line. The runner was out by two steps. At the time, this play kept the tying run from scoring.

With the Outlaws leading 3 to 2 and two outs in the bottom of the sixth, the Patriots scored two runs on three singles and a walk to win the game by the score of 4 to 3. The box score is here.

The Outlaws have 1 win and 2 losses for Spring 2011 season. The game log is here.

The Outlaws will be playing in a tournament in Woodland over the three day weekend.
