2011 SHSS IS Golf Tournament

I spend the day playing in the 23rd annual SHSS Information Systems Golf Tournament. The tournament is a charity fund raiser for the hospitals. I have played in this tournament ten of the last eleven years. After holding the tournament the last two years at the Bass Lake Course, the tournament moved back to the Forest Lake Golf Course in Acampo. As Ricky would say, Bass Lake had "too many rules."

Starting in 2007, I have been required to play with vendors who made a contribution. This year, I played with Glenn Gerlach from Microsoft, Rob Adams from AT&T and Mark from Quest.

Even though I played twice in May, I played horrible. I did not take any swings at the driving range and could never really get on track. Glenn, Rob and Mark carried the team. In spite of the fact that we used four of my drives, we had 12 birdies and no bogies for a 54.

2010 SHSS IT Golf Tournament

From 2001 to 2006, Sharon and I played in the SHSS IT Golf Tournament five times with Donna and Kevin Gainsley (2006, 2005, 2004). In 2003, Sharon was serving as a wedding coordinator and I played with Kevin, Donna and Jayne Wong.

The tournament is a charity fund raiser for the hospitals. In 2007 and 2009, I was asked to play with vendors who made a contribution. I missed the 2009 tournament due to our Alaskan vacation.

Given the state of the economy, they had trouble getting vendors to contribute this year. I ended up being able to put together my own foursome at the last minute. Shooting out a number of e-mails on Monday, I ended getting the Kevin and Donna plus Jayne back to play together.

For the second year in a row, the tournament was played at the Bass Lake Golf Course near Rescue.

We ended up 2 over with 2 birdies, 2 bogeys and 1 double bogeys. I was actually pleased with how well I played. This is the fourth time that I have played in the last month.

2009 SHSS IT Golf Tournament

From 2000 to 2006, Sharon and I played in the SHSS IT Golf Tournament five times with Donna and Kevin Gainsley (2006, 2005, 2004). The tournament is a charity fund raiser for the hospitals. Starting in 2007, I have been required to play with vendors who made a contribution. I missed last year's tournament due to our vacation.

After playing at the Forest Lake Golf Course in Acampo for the last nine years, the tournament moved to the Bass Lake Golf Course near Rescue this year.

I played with Lily and Robin from Kronos and Steve from Microsoft. We were 5 over par for the day.

I have not picked up a club since last August and decided not to even go to the driving range. I hit the ball pretty well a few times, but as you would expect was wildly inconsistent.

2007 SHSS IT Golf Tournament

Five of the last seven years, Sharon and I have played in the SHSS IT Golf Tournament with Donna and Kevin Gainsley (2006, 2005, 2004). The tournament is a charity fund raiser for the hospitals and this year I was asked to play with vendors who made a contribution.

I played with Erik and Nikki from Network General, Micheal from CDW and Cameron from E3 Systems. We started on the 10th hole and were even par on the back nine with one bogie and one birdie. We had an eagle on #2 and another bogie on the front nine to end the day 1 under par.

I have not picked up a club since last October and decided not to even go to the driving range. I hit the ball pretty well a few times, but as you would expect was wildly inconsistent.

2006 SHSS IT Golf Tournament

Sharon and I and Donna and Kevin Gainsley played in the Sutter Health Support Services IT Golf Tournament at the Forest Lake Golf course in Acampo. We shot a 73; +2 over on the front nine and +5 on the back nine. I probably hit the ball off the tee with my driver as well as I ever have.

The weather and the company were great. This is the fifth time in the last six years (2005, 2004, 2003) that the four of us have played together in this tournament.

2005 SHSS IT Golf Tournament

Sharon and I and Donna and Kevin Gainsley played in the Sutter Health Support Services IT Golf Tournament at the Forest Lake Golf course in Acampo. We shot a 76. Although I felt like we played better than last year, last year we were +4 for a gross score of 70. I think that this is the fourth time in the last five years that the four of us have played together in this tournament.

2004 SHSS IT Golf Tournament

Three out of the last four years, Donna and Kevin Gainsley, Sharon and I have played in the SHSS IT Golf Tournament. Last year, Kevin, Donna and I played with Jane Wong. This is the first time I have played golf since Rudy put together the group to play with the CEO last November!

Given how little Donna, Sharon or I have played, we did pretty well. We were +4; +1 on the front nine and +3 on the back nine. Although we failed to get a birdie, I think that this is the best score we have posted in the tournament. Rudy, Lew, Dave and Sam Samms posted a 56, -10.

2003 SHSS IT Golf Tournament plus preschool graduation

Friday was one of those days where everything seems to fall on the same day. Sutter Health Support Services IT Department held its annual charity golf tournament. In the past two years, Sharon and I have played in a foursome with Donna and Kevin Gainsley. Sharon had another commitment so we recruited Jayne Wong, Sutter's IBM account rep and the wife of someone (Randy Wong) who I have gotten to know personally and professionally over the last sixteen years. We started off pretty well; we were 1 over after six. Then, as Kevin aptly described, the wheels came off and we bogeyed six straight holes... The weather was wonderful and we had a great time.

I bolted from the golf tournament to attend Jack's preschool graduation. Jack has gone to daycare at the same place for more than four years. There are a number of kids who have been together since they were six months old. They are all starting to spin off to kindergarten.

Finally, Sharon enlisted to be a wedding coordinator for the church and today was the first wedding she was coordinating. She spent the afternoon working with the Priest and the wedding party at the rehearsal.
