I was interested in seeing the Campus Common Golf Course. After being closed for a number of years, it is scheduled to reopen on May 8. It looks like there is still some work to be done on the course, in the parking lot and around the clubhouse.

Sharon and I rode 15.24 miles from William Pond to Cal Expo and back. It took us just over an hour and a half.

Using Runkeeper on my iPhone, I created this map of our 4th of July weekend ride from Davis to Winters and back. We covered more than 24 miles in two hours and eighteen minutes.

Sunday Bike Ride
When we rode bikes with Drew and Shannon on Memorial Day, Sharon and I talked about doing a larger loop. Sunday morning, we rode northeast mostly through neighborhoods until we got to Bannister Park. From there, we picked up the bike trail and crossed the river at the Sunrise bike bridge. Heading west on the American River Bike Trail, we stopped for lunch near the El Manto River Access. Continuing west, we followed the bike trail to William Pond Park and wound our way home.
In total, we covered 14.4 miles in an hour and forty-one minutes.

Memorial Day Bike Ride
In the late morning, Sharon, Shannon, Drew and I took off from the house for a bike ride. We took advantage of the fact that Sharon has three different bikes!
We wound our way through neighborhoods to William Pond. From there we rode east across the river on the American River Bike Trail to Hagan Community Park. On the way home, we looped into Ancil Hoffman Park. In total, we covered 11.6 miles in just under an hour and thirty minutes.
At some point this summer, Sharon and I will probably try to do a loop. From Hagan Community Park, we can continue east to the bike bridge at Sunrise and then head west on Fair Oaks Boulevard.

Fish Hatchery to Granite Bay Bike Ride
I rode my mountain bike from the fish hatchery to Granite Bay and back. I covered 26.6 miles in two hours and 24 minutes. The last couple of miles to Granite Bay were on a dirt trail along the lake. It is astonishing how low the lake is!

Napa Valley Bike Ride
Working out of St. Helena and staying in Napa, I got a bike from the hotel after work. I had a gorgeous evening bike ride through the vineyards. I covered 22.2 miles.

Bizz Johnson Trail
Over the years, I have explored almost all of the Bizz Johnson Trail. Following the old Fernley and Lassen Branch Line of the Southern Pacific railroad, the trail winds 25.4 miles from Susanville to Mason Station. For the first 16 miles, the trail follows the Susan River. As it winds through the rugged Susan River Canyon, the trail crosses the river 12 times on bridges and trestles and passes through two tunnels.
In 2003, Sharon, Jack and I hiked from Devil's Corral to the old railroad tunnels. On the map, this is the unmarked section between the purple and green lines.
In 2005, Sharon, Jack and I hiked a couple of miles along the trail starting from Mason Station. This is at the beginning of the red line at the top of the map.
In 2008, Jack and I rode our mountain bikes from the Susanville Depot up the trail to the railroad tunnels. This is the purple line on the map. There is a picture here. More maps and Google Earth images are here. This is probably the most interesting part of the trail. I am going to try and get Tomasin and I to ride this section again next year.
In 2009, Jack and I rode our bikes up the trail from Devil's Corral. This is the green line on the map. There is a picture here. More maps and Google Earth images are here.
In 2014, I rode from Mason Station to Goumaz Station by myself. This is the red line on the map. There is a picture here. Tomasin and I also rode a shorter part of the red line earlier in the week.
This leaves a very short section of the trail that I have not covered at least once. This is the yellow line on the map; it measures just about 0.6 miles.

American River Trail Bike Ride
On Friday morning, Sharon and I rode over 19 miles from Arden Pond to the Hazel fish hatchery and back. Repeating a Note to Self, I have got to get a road bike. Riding my mountain bike, I struggled to keep with Sharon cruising along on her road bike.
