Thanksgiving 2024

After the Run to Feed the Hungry, Sharon and I hosted a late afternoon Thanksgiving dinner. The group totaled twenty, including: Tom; Eric and Ashley; Kevin, Leah, Lydia and Amelia; Terry and Steve; Jim; Tim and Kathy; Eileen and Will; Cormac, Erin and Mave; and, Sharon, Jack and I. Clem, Lee, Daniel and Morgan were going to come, but Clem got sick.

I really enjoyed the afternoon. Sharon got a spatchcocked turkey and a porchetta pork loin for dinner with everyone bringing sides.

Thanksgiving 2023

After the Run to Feed the Hungry, Sharon, Jack and I headed to Sharon's brother Tom's house for Thanksgiving dinner. The group totaled twenty, including: Tom; Eric and Ashley; Kevin, Leah, Lydia and Amelia; Terry and Steve; Jim; Tim and Kathy; Eileen and Will; Morgan, Daniel and Lee; Sharon, Jack and I.

Sharon made an interesting specialty cocktail for everyone before dinner. She also made a couple of pumpkin pies on Wednesday. Morgan and Daniel brought mash potatoes.

Although he was initially a little shy, Lee warmed up over the course of the afternoon. He had a great time running around in the backyard with Lydia and Amelia.

Thanksgiving 2022

After the Run to Feed the Hungry, we pulled together the Thanksgiving dinner. We got home a lot later from the Run to Feed the Hungry than past years. As a result, we got meal in the oven later than we wanted. Like last two years, Sharon and I picked up sides from Whole Foods. For the main course, Sharon ordered a Turducken.

With Jack feeling under the weather, we had a late dinner on the back deck of Turducken, mashed potatoes, green beans and two kinds of stuffing. The Turducken was stuffed with a nice jambalaya stuffing. The group included Morgan, Lee, Daniel, Drew, Carmen, Sharon and I.

I was disappointed that we never got around to playing Catan or Unstable Unicorns. Drew and I talked afterwards about trying to do this at Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2021

Although I miss the large Frame Family togethers, we had a very nice holiday. After the Run to Feed the Hungry, I worked with Sharon to pull together the Thanksgiving dinner. Although like last year we got a Thanksgiving dinner from Whole Foods, we spatchcocked the turkey that came in the Butcher Box.

We had a nice early dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing and a carrot salad [from Carmen]. The group for dinner include Jack, Drew, Carmen, Sharon and I. Morgan, Lee and Daniel spent the day in Paso Robles with Daniel's family.

After dinner, Sharon, Drew, Carmen and I took Tiber for a long walk through Ancil Hoffman Park.

Over the course of the day, Jack, Drew, Carmen and I played two games of Game of Thrones Catan. Drew won a short game before dinner, while Jack won an epic two hour game in the evening. Sharon, Jack, Drew and I also played one game of Unstable Unicorns; Jack won.

We finished the day watching the Saturday Night Live hosted by Kim Kardashian.

Lee
After a virtual Run to Feed the Hungry and Zoomsgiving get together, we finished the day with Morgan, Lee and Daniel for Thanksgiving dinner. We had a very nice turkey dinner that we had picked up from Whole Foods on Wednesday evening.

Although he hadn't taken a nap in the afternoon, Lee was very good during dinner.

Thanksgiving 2019

Over the last seventeen years, we have only hosted Thanksgiving five times [2003, 2008, 2010, 2014, 2016]. Sharon claims that she can't cook a decent turkey...

Sharon started this fall selling the idea that the next generation should host Thanksgiving this year. Leah and Kevin accepted the challenge.

After getting home from the Run to Feed the Hungry, Sharon made a couple of pumpkin pies and a green bean casserole. We took off about 12:45 pm for Leah and Kevin's house in the Colonial Heights area of Sacramento.

The group totaled twenty-one, including: Tom; Eric and Ashley; Kevin, Leah, Lydia and Amelia; two friends of Toms (Jim and Mary); Tim and Kathy; Eileen and Will; Erin and Cormac; Terry and Steve; Janie; Sharon, Jack and I. Ashley left before dinner to head up to her parents house in Cameron Park.

It has a very nice Thanksgiving dinner. Leah and Kevin did a great job!

2018 Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving 2018After running the Run to Feed the Hungry, Sharon made a couple of pumpkin pies. We took off for Sharon's brother Tom's house about 1:30 pm.

At seventeen, it was a big group this year, including: Tom, Jim Dunn, Tim, Kathy, Erin, Cromac, Kevin, Leah, Lydia, Amelia, Leah parent's Terri and Steve, a friend of Leah's and her daughter, Sharon, Jack and I. Eric and Ashley went to Ashley's grandparents in Sonora, while Eileen and Will were dealing with a pet emergency. Tom set up two long tables in the living room. Although he said that he did it at Easter, this is the first time I have seen him serve dinner this way.

Much to my chagrin, we watched the Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins by the score of 31 to 23.

Lydia and KevinAfter running the Run to Feed the Hungry, Sharon made spiced pumpkin soufflés with bourbon and molasses sauce rather than pumpkin pies. She made these soufflés for the 2009 fall dinner party. We took off for Sharon's brother Tim's house about 2:30 pm.

At seventeen, it was a big group this year, including: Tom, Eric, Ashley, Jim Dunn, Tim, Kathy, Eileen, Erin, Cromac, Kevin, Leah, Lydia, Leah parent's Terri and Steve, Sharon, Jack and I. Tim and Kathy served a great Turducken that they got from the Nugget.

Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving

After I got back from running the Run to Feed the Hungry, we spent the rest of the day getting the house cleaned up and dinner prepared.

Celebrating Jim's birthday on ThanksgivingPeople started showing up about 3:00 pm. The year's group was a little smaller. It included Sharon's brother Tim, Kathy, Erin, Eileen, Sharon's brother Tom, Eric, Jim, Sharon, Jack, and I; a total of ten. Kevin, Leah and Lydia went to Leah's grandfather's in Napa.

We served an interesting cranberry cocktail as the pre-dinner drink. To my surprise, everyone actually ended up out on the deck before dinner. With all the rain that we have had, the park is very green.

We served honey-baked ham and turkey for dinner. The turkey was spatchcocked.

After dinner, we celebrated Jim's birthday with chocolate cake and pumpkin pie.

Thanksgiving 2015

After running the Run to Feed the Hungry, Sharon made a couple of pumpkin pies. We took off for Sharon's brother Tim's house about 2:30 pm and picked Tom and Eric up along the way.

At sixteen, it was a big group this year, including: Tom, Eric, Jim Dunn, Tim, Kathy, Eileen, Erin, Dillon, Kevin, Leah, Lydia, Leah parent's Terry and Steve, Sharon, Jack and I. Tim and Kathy made a great turkey dinner with some cuts that Tim got from a barbecue client plus a whole turkey. Everyone raved about the stuffing.

In what was probably a mistake, we took Tiber. The Tim's have three dogs and we thought it would be a nice for Tiber to have a chance to run around in the backyard.

I didn't watch as much football as usual [too busy trying to keep an eye on Tiber!?!], but saw some of the Cowboys getting pounded 33 to 14 by the Panthers. Romo re-injured his shoulder and got knocked out of the game.

Thanksgiving 2014

After running the Run to Feed the Hungry, we spent the rest of the day getting the house cleaned up and dinner prepared.

With Kevin and Leah getting married on Saturday, we hosted a large group for Thanksgiving. It is the largest group that we have ever had for a dinner. The group included: Tom, Becky, Kevin, Eric, Tim, Kathy, Eileen, Janie, Jim Dunn, Leah, Leah's father and mother, Leah's uncle and his wife, Leah's sister and her four year daughter, Sharon, Jack and I. Nineteen people in total! With all of the leafs in the two tables and using the folding chairs we have, we can actually seat twenty people...

People started arriving about 3 pm. With Leah's uncle and his wife flying in the afternoon, we had a late dinner [6ish?]. Sharon got a couple of Turduckens with Cajun corn bread stuffing.

Leah's four year old niece had a great time playing with Tiber. Leah's sister lives in France. Walking Tiber on the leash in the front of the house, I realized that the four year old spoke only French.

We finished the evening watching the 49ers getting beat up by the Seahawks [19 to 3]. The 49ers looked pathetic.

Thanksgiving 2013

After running the Run to Feed the Hungry, Sharon made a couple of pumpkin pies. We hit the jacuzzi while the pies were cooking and then got cleaned up.

We took off for Sharon's brother Tim's house in the early afternoon. It was a medium-sized group this year, including: T0m, Becky, Kevin, Jim Dunn, Tim, Kathy, Eileen, Sharon, Jack and I. Tim and Kathy made a great turkey dinner with some cuts that Tim got from a barbecue client. The only downside was that we ended up eating pretty late. The evening included watching parts of the Dallas/Oakland [31 to 24] and Baltimore/Pittsburg [22 to 19] football games.

Thanksgiving 2012

With Becky in Arizona visiting her dad and the Tim Frames at Kathy's parents, the original plan was for Tom, Kevin, Sharon, Jack and I to go to dinner at Bistro 33. Sometime during the week, Tom and Sharon accepted an invitation to have Thanksgiving dinner at an old friend of Tom's [Arthur Kenton Stanley Myers].

After running the Run to Feed the Hungry, we got cleaned up and Sharon made a couple of pumpkin pies. In the late afternoon, we headed over to the Myers house. We had a nice traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Highlights of the evening included listening to their daughter talk about her trip to Turkey and watching the Jets make fools of themselves against the Patriots.

Thanksgiving 2011

After the Run to Feed the Hungry and the adventure getting out of the parking lot, we headed back to the house. Sharon spent some time making pumpkin flan. Drew stopped by and we got a chance to catch up in a little less hectic environment than last Thursday at the Fillmore. It was very nice to have a chance to sit and visit with him!

We took off for Sharon's brother Tim's house in the early afternoon. They brought a new house off of Elk Grove-Florin this year and hosted Thanksgiving. It was a big group, including: Tom, Becky, Kevin, Jim Dunn, Tim, Kathy, Erin, her boyfriend [Dylan], Eileen, Sharon, Drew, Jack and I. After dinner, we celebrated Jim's birthday. We finished the night watching the 49ers fall to the Ravens by the score of 16 to 6.

Thanksgiving 2010

After the Run to Feed the Hungry, we raced home to put the turducken in the oven. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house; the group included Tom, Becky, Kevin, Jim Dunn, Jack, Sharon and I.

After a great dinner, Sharon served pumpkin flan and pumpkin pie. Tommy brought some cupcakes shaped like turkeys that he had made.

A group of us took a nice after dinner walk through the neighborhood with some Cuban cigars.

The group this year included Sharon's brother Tom, his wife Becky, his youngest son Eric, Sister's brother Tim, his wife Kathy, their oldest daughter Erin, Drew, Jack, Sharon and I. We were missing Sharon's nephew Kevin and niece Eileen.

We had a nice dinner. Drew got out the guitar and played a couple of songs after the meal.

Thanksgiving 2008

After the Run to Feed the Hungry, we raced home to put the turkey in the oven. For the first time since 2003, we hosted Thanksgiving at our house.

The group included Tom, Becky, Eric, Sharon's mom Rosemary, two friends of the family (Jim Dunn and Jim Gage), Jack, Sharon and I. Sharon got a free range turkey from William Sonoma. Although it took us forever to cook it, it turned out great.

We had pumpkin pie and a chocolate cake to celebrate Jim Dunn's birthday for desert. Tom, Becky and Eric gave Jim a James Bond version of Scene It? for his birthday which we played after dinner.

Thanksgiving 2007

We had originally planned to go to the Run to Feed the Hungry in the morning, but I was still feeling under the weather.

Sharon and her two brothers decided to do something different for Thanksgiving this year. We drove down to San Francisco in the late morning and checked into the Hyatt Regency at 5 Embarcadero Center. All three families plus Sharon's mom got rooms. The kids played board games, while the adults had a couple cocktails in two of the adjoining rooms.

Afterwards, we walked across Market and had Thankgiving dinner at One Market Restaurant. I had Portobello Mushroom Soup, Roasted Willy Bird Turkey with corn bread-wild rice stuffing and a Sugar Pumpkin Tart.
