2006 Spring Training Day 1

Up early, Jack and I took a morning flight to Phoenix. After some confusion, Wallen picked us up at the curb and we headed to Maryvalle to see the San Francisco Giants play the Milwaukee Brewers. We saw the Giants beat the Brewers by a score of 10 to 5.

Today was the opening day of spring training. The weather was beautiful and we had seats about five rows behind home plate.

We have a pretty good size group this year, including Wallen, his brothers Jim and Bob, Kyle and three of Wallen's friends from Seattle plus Jack and I. Wallen's niece Carol is coming in later today.

In a twist of fate, Wallen had given up his aisle seat on his flight to Phoenix this morning to a tall gentleman who turned out to be an assistant coach for the Washington Husky basketball team. To show his gratitude, the coach left tickets for the ASU versus Washington game at will-call.

After checking into the hotel, most of us headed to the basketball game. We saw the Washington Huskies turn it on in the second half to beat the ASU Sun Devils by a score of 91 to 66.

Jack had a great time at the basketball game!
