2nd Grade: Art Lesson A

Sharon spent the afternoon as the art docent for Jack's second grade class. The lesson focused on Henri Rousseau and how overlapping is used to show depth. The class saw the video Dropping in on Rousseau and then examined three Rousseau prints: Self Portrait; Virgin Forest [shown below]; and, Cart of Pere Juniet.

For their art project, the kids created a Rousseau jungle scene by cutting trees, plants, flowers and animals from contruction paper and layering them on the paper to show overlapping and depth.
