I went to an entertaining Sacramento Kings versus Portland Trail Blazers NBA basketball game at Power Balance Pavilion. With the game tied at 95 with 3:14 left, Nicolas Batum and Gerald Wallace scored two quick baskets for the Blazers and Portland held on to win by the score of 107 to 102.
DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings with 28 points on 10 for 17 from the field and 8 for 10 from the free throw line. He added 11 rebounds and 4 assists. I was very impressed with several of the passes that Cousins made.
Marcus Thornton added 26 points for the Kings. He was 11 for 18 from the field and 4 for 7 from the free throw line. I am dumbfounded at his shooting ability. Since being acquired from New Orleans for Carl Landry four games ago, Thornton has averaged 21 points a game and shot 52% from the field.
Wesley Matthews scored 11 points in the fourth quarter and led the Trail Blazer with 21 points. Gerald Wallace came off the bench and scored 12 points in 33 minutes. Starting Batum, Aldridge and Camby, Portland has a tall front line.
Late in the game, Drew texted me asking "how's the crowd size tonight?" The box score lists the attendance at 12,286. My guess is there was maybe 10,000 people in the stands.
The Kings now have 2 wins and 6 losses in games that I have seen in the 2010-2011 season.
