Lesson E: Boats

On Thursday, Sharon was the Art Docent for Jack's first grade class. Lesson E showed how artists paint a horizon in a picture and touched on how artists depict movement in their work [previous lessons: Lesson A and B, Lesson C and Lesson D].

The class looked at Ground Swell by Edward Hopper, Boats at Saint Marie by Vincent Van Gogh and Boats at Argenteuil [shown below] by Claude Monet.

For their, art project the class drew a horizon line where the earth meets the sky and added a boat for a focal point.
