Reveille was at 7:00 a.m. We got up, packed up our bags and made our way to breakfast. After breakfast, we took a tour of the Captain's and Admiral's quarters. These were much nicer accommodations than the crew bunks where we stayed. They also had their own kitchen.
Everyone then went up on the flight deck for the presentation of colors and a muster out ceremony with patches for the kids. Afterwards, we went to the museum store and I got USS Hornet hats for the two boys.
We ran into a couple of other people from our pack and went back up on the flight deck for a tour of the bridge that included the flag bridge, navigation bridge and the primary flight control.
Jack, his classmate and I finished the day with one more ride in the flight simulator on an Iwo Jima mission. When we went to look for our bags, ours were the only ones left! We walked off the ship about 11:30 a.m. and headed home.
