Palm Royale is a ten-part period comedy-drama miniseries created by Abe Sylvia. It is based on the 2018 novel Mr. & Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel. The series premiered on March 20, 2024. The cast includes: Kristen Wiig; Ricky Martin; Laura Dern; Allison Janney; Carol Burnett, and; Bruce Dern.
The series is a ride through the opulent world of Palm Beach high society in 1969. Kristen Wiig shines as Maxine Simmons, an outsider with ambition. Desperate to crack the code of this exclusive club, Maxine sets her sights on becoming one of them, no matter the cost.
I enjoyed the first few episodes. Kristen Wiig's performance is very good. About episode seven, the show jumped the shark. The storyline went in so many different directions that it was more and more bizaree. I started asking myself where is this going? How are they ending this? Unfortunately, it got worse. The final episode is a mess and ends aburptly. I don't recommend this series...
