Sleeping late, we had a lazy morning. The hotel left a basket of food and some coffee outside the room at 7:30 am. We had a nice relaxing breakfast.
The plan for the morning was to walk the Foss Creek Pathway. It is a three mile long, scenic, paved multi-use trail winding through the heart of Healdsburg. It follows the natural path of Foss Creek. The trail was about a block west of our hotel.
Heading to the northern end of the trail and back, we ended up covering 3.5 miles in just over an hour and fifteen mintues.
We spent the late afternoon exploring the area around the Plaza in downtown Healdsburg. Eventually, I ducked into the empty Centenntial Mountain tasting room while Sharon bought some clothes. When Sharon came back to get me, she started talking to the woman that ran the tasting room. It turned out that she was from Sacramento and had gone to St. Francis High School like Sharon. She graduated in 2015 and knew Jack!?!
We finished the day with dinner at Maréla, the restaurant in hotel. We had a much better experience than the previous night; the service was very good.
For starters, we split Sonoma Greens [Shaved Chalk Hill Vegetables, Local Greens, Sherry Vinaigrette] and Charred Octopus [Yukon Gold Potatoes, Prosciutto Amatriciana, Heirloom Tomatoes Sauce]. We split Bolognesse Traditional [House Made Tagliatelle Pasta, Pomodoro Sauce Parmigiano Reggiano] for our entree. We shared a Blackberry Tart [Crème Diplomate, Chalk Hill Blackberries, Chantilly Cream] for dessert. I tried to order Tiramisu, but it was all gone...
