2011 PAL Varsity Comp Basketball SEAS versus St. Ignatius

The SEAS Eagles played their first game of the season against St. Ignatius in the first round of the Jesuit Jr Classic basketball tournament. This is a double elimination tournament over three weekends.

The Eagles struggled on both ends of the floor. They committed 18 turnovers without an assist. Additionally, they had only 11 rebounds. The Eagles shot 31% from the floor, compared to over 50% for St. Ignatius.

Jack played about 11 minutes of a 28 minute game, mostly in the fourth quarter. He had one turnover and one block. Jack did not take a shot.

Going almost 11 minutes of the second half without a basket, the SEAS lost to St. Ignatius by the score of 39 to 20.

After using paper and pencil last year, this is the first game that I scored using ESPN iScore Basketball Scorekeeper running on an iPad. The box score generated by the software for the game is here. It is going to take me a few games to get comfortable with the software.

The SEAS Eagles now have 0 wins and 1 loss for the season. The game log is here.

It is going to be an interesting season. The league games start on Wednesday. With 15 kids on the team, I continue to scratch my head about how the coaches are going to play everyone. In particular, I am puzzled about how are they going to establish an effective rotation where the team on the floor at any one time is comfortable with each other.
