Katie Couric's first night

I had originally intended to tivo Katie Couric's first night on the CBS Evening News, but I forgot. Instead, I watched the show on the web. One of the benefits of switching from DSL to Comcast Cable is that it is actually possible to do something like this. With DSL, the results would have been unwatchable; the video would be constantly stopping and starting. With cable, the video streamed without a hiccup.

Although Katie did fine, I was not impressed overall. It was a fairly standard 30 minute network news show. I prefer to get my news quickly from a number of different web sites, including short videos, rather than being fed a handful of stories that I may or may not be interested in.

I did set-up a tivo season pass for the show. I am interested in seeing her interview with George Bush tomorrow night and the segment by Rush Limbaugh on Thursday.

Finally, it was interesting to note how Katie was made up. The make-up she was wearing was much different than what she wore on the Today show. The eyes and the cheeks were much harsher.
