Jesuit Frosh Baseball versus Ponderosa

The Jesuit Frosh Marauders played the Ponderosa Bruins in their sixteenth game of the season. Based on looking at the rosters, it looks like the Bruins moved four freshman to the JV team. As a result, Ponderosa appears to be one of the weaker teams in the league and is winless.

The coach took the opportunity to play a number of the players who have not had many plate appearances this year. Jack entered the game in centerfield in the bottom of the fifth inning.

At the plate, Jack was 0 for 1. Leading off the top of the sixth, he grounded a 3 and 2 pitch up the middle. The shortstop was playing towards second base, made a nice stop and threw Jack out at first.

In the field, Jack played two innings in centerfield. He did not have a put-out or an assist.

With Jesuit leading 4 to 3 in the top of the fourth, the Marauders chased the starting the pitcher and then scored 9 runs over the next three innings. The coach made the point before the game that other teams are usually throwing their best pitcher against Jesuit. Once they have to replace the starting pitcher, the other teams typically get in trouble.

The Marauders defeated the Bruins by the score of 13 to 3. The scorecard is here and the box score is here.

Iwasa (4 - 1, ERA 3.24, 6 starts) was the winning pitcher. Iwasa pitched five innings; he walked one and struck out two. Ryan was again effective closely the last inning.

The Jesuit Frosh baseball team now has 12 wins and 4 losses. In league, they have 5 wins and 1 loss. The game log is here. The Marauders next game is Monday, April 15 against Oakmont.
