Jack played in his second Little Dribbler's Basketball game of the 2008 season. They played against St. John the Evangelist Catholic School in Carmichael. Kibitzing with Larkin on Tuesday night, I realized that a couple of notes of explanation are probably in order about how Little Dribbler's works. They do not keep score. They use a five minute "quarter" with a running clock. They fit as many 5 minute quarters into an hour as they can. Typically, they run a new set of kids out for each quarter. This is the last year that they will use this format. Next year, they have the option of playing in an competitive league.
Although there is no official score keeper, the boys keep score. Jack claims that his team won by the score of 72 to 14; this is probably pretty accurate. Jack had fourteen points and a bushel of offensive rebounds. The other team got very few defensive rebounds.
I was amazed at how well Jack's team played. There are eleven kids on the team and every single one of them played well. The kids were moving without the ball, they were passing the ball around on offensive and playing very tight defense. They had two practices in the last week.
