Padres Win! [2008 AAA Baseball Playoff Game #1]

The Padres played in their first playoff game of the 2008 little league season against the Astros. They had lost to the Astros twice during the regular season: 22 to 12 in week 2 and 12 to 4 in week 16.

At the plate, Jack was 1 for 3 with a walk, one RBI, two runs scored and three stolen bases. After falling behind 0 and 2, Jack took four balls and walked in his first at -bat. He promptly stole second, stole third and then scored on an infield single for the first run of the game. Jack struck out in his second at bat. With two outs and runners on first and second, he hit a hard ground ball to the second baseman in his third plate appearance. The second baseman eventually corralled the ball and was able to make a throw to force the runner at second in an extremely close play. In his last at bat, Jack drove the first pitch into right center. He stole second and eventually came around to score.

In field, Jack played six innings at shortstop. He cleanly handled the only grounder hit to him. Jack normally sits out the fifth inning. With the Padres leading 9 to 4 in the bottom of the fifth, the coach switched the rotation and left Jack in the field for defensive purposes.

Behind probably the best combined pitching performance of the season (3 innings by Joseph and 3 innings by Kyle), the Padres won the game by a score of 13 to 7.
