2010 Petersen Shootout Day 3

Larkin and I were up and moving fairly early on Sunday morning. After breakfast in the hotel, I made a couple more quick stops at local waymarks before heading home. I was surprised to find more than a little snow on Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe. Going down the grade into Horsetail Falls and Strawberry, I came upon a large group of touring bikes. This section of the road also had quite of bit of snow and ice. The touring bikes were moving along at about 15 miles an hour with their flashers on trying to not lose control; this did not look like a fun time. Leaving Carson City about 8:00 a.m., I was home by about 10:40 a.m.

I spent part of the weekend scratching my head about the economics of the golfing package. It seemed like a deal that was too good to be true. For $285, we got two rounds of golf, two nights of lodging double occupancy, a prime rib dinner with drinks and wine, two breakfasts at the hotel, drink tickets, a shrimp cocktail and a player's card for the hotel casino worth $!0. Combined with the fact that I held my own gambling on Friday night, I feel like I came home with found money.

Although I think that the group has been bigger in the past, it included about 20 guys with various ties to Rod and his brother, Scott. Larkin and I both enjoyed the weekend and it is definitely an event that we would try to attend again next year if we are invited back. When I went to the Outlaws baseball clinic Sunday afternoon to drop off some food, I harangued several of the others Dads about missing a great weekend.
