Up fairly early, Larkin and I had breakfast at the buffet in the Eldorado. From there we packed up the room.
At this point, I made a tactical error. I knew that it was snowing on Intestate 80 over the summit. Nevertheless, when Larkin rolled out, I spent an hour wandering downtown Reno tracking down half a dozen Nevada historical landmarks.
It was about 10 a.m. by the time I got back to the car. The traffic came to a crawl as I started up the grade west of Truckee. It started to snow hard. I knew I was in for an adventure when I passed a Toyota pickup with oversize tires sliding sideways. Shortly after this near Blue Canyon, traffic came to a complete stop. I ended up sitting for about an hour and fifteen minutes while they cleared an accident. It was about 2:30 p.m. by the time I got home: a four and a half hour trip.
All and all, it was a nice weekend. I always enjoy Larkin's company.
