2011 Disneyland Day 1

Friday afternoon, Sharon, Jack and I flew from Sacramento to Orange County. We got our luggage and caught a cab to Disneyland. We are spending the weekend at the Grand Californian Hotel with Sharon's two brothers' families. Sharon's sister-in-law, Becky, has wanted to make a trip with all three families for years.

Unfortunately, when we got to the hotel about 4 p.m., the room was not ready. We ended up sitting in the lobby for about an hour. At this point, the Tom's and Tim's rolled in. They had driven from Northern Californa, stopping overnight at Harris Ranch.

After getting settled into the rooms, everyone [Sharon, Jack, Tom, Becky, Kevin, Eric, Tim, Kathy, Erin, Eileen and I] got together in Tom's room for a drink and hors· d'oeuvres.

From there, we all headed to Disneyland. Taking the Disneyland Railroad around to New Orleans Square, we started with the Pirates of the Caribbean. From there, we rode the Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain.

We had a late dinner at the Tomorrowland Terrace watching the fireworks. At this point, the Tim's headed back to the hotel, while the rest of us rode the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

Sharon bailed out after the bobsleds. Tom, Becky, Kevin, Eric, Jack and I finished the night riding Space Mountain, the Indiana Jones Adventure and the Jungle Cruise.

By the time Jack and I got back to the room and turned out the lights for the night it was after 12:30 a.m.
