Golf and Dinner with the Gainsleys


A fantastic day playing golf with the Gainsleys at the Tilden Park Golf Course in Berkeley. Since I started taking the lessons, I am enjoying playing golf a lot more. Although the score didn't show it, I am striking the ball better.

After spending Monday night housesitting for Drew and Carmen in Orinda, we met at the Gainsleys at the course about 9:20 am. Unfortunately, the driving range didn't open until noon! We teed off at 10:20 am. The course was pretty hilly with lots of up and downs. I was surprised how close the tee boxes were to a number of the greens. I ended up scoring a liberally scored 114. I scored better on the back nine, but felt like I was striking the ball better on the front nine.

After getting checked in at at Residence Inn in Berkeley near the Cal Stadium, the Gainsleys stopped by Drew and Carmen's house for a glass of wine. The four of us finished the day having dinner at the Social Bird Kitchen in Layafette. The four us split DI STEFANO BURRATA [Grilled bread, Parma Prosciutto, fresh fig jam, balsamic reduction, Arbequina olive oil, maldon salt, micro greens]. I had a DUROC PORK CHOP [Parsnip-potato puree, Hobbs' Applewood smoked bacon- brussel sprouts, pear chutney, rosemary red wine sauce], while Sharon had an ARUGULA salad [Chile flakes, lemon, extra virgin olive oil, parmesan] with King Salmon added. She added a side of squash.
