The Nice Guys

Saturday night, Jack, Sharon and I watched The Nice Guys. Jack suggested the movie. He had heard a Rewatchable's Podcast about the movie recently.

The movie is a 2016 American neo-noir buddy action comedy film directed by Shane Black. He co-wrote the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi. It stars Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling in the title roles. Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, Keith David, and Kim Basinger appear in supporting roles.

Set in a hazy, neon-soaked 1977 Los Angeles, the story pairs a bumbling, down-on-his-luck private investigator (Gosling) with a cynical hired enforcer (Crowe). The mismatched duo reluctantly teams up to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a young woman and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. They stumble through a web of corporate greed and automotive industry corruption.

The film was milding entertaining. I give it a luke-warm thumbs up.
