Jesuit JV Baseball versus Folsom

The Jesuit Marauders JV baseball team faced the Folsom Bulldogs in the second game of a three game series. Monday's game was suspended due to rain with two outs in the top of the fifth. There was some talk today that Monday's game will not count and the boys will play a double header against Folsom on Saturday rather than finishing the three game series on Friday night.

Leading off, Jack was 1 for 2 with a single, a stolen base and a run scored. In his first at-bat, he hit a 3 and 2 pitch for a hard ground ball right at the shortstop and was throw out at first. Jack drove a 1 and 1 pitch into centerfield for a single in his second plate appearance. He said after the game that it was a little bit of an out of body experience. Jack got fooled on the pitch, but was able to get this hands in the right position and get the barrel on the ball. When he hit it, Jack said "oh." He went to second when the pitcher threw the ball away on a pick off attempt. Jack stole third and scored on Sam's single to left.

Playing centerfield for four innings, Jack did not have an assist or a put-out.

Behind a strong outing by Cosca, the Marauders defeated the Bulldogs by the score of 6 to 1. The only run that the Marauders gave up was unearned. The box score is here and the scorecard is here.

Cosca (2-0, 3 starts, 12.0 innings, 1.75 ERA) was the winning pitcher. He struck out 10 and walked 2 in six innings. Child (1-0, 4 appearances, 5.67 innings, 2.47 ERA) worked the seventh inning striking out the side.

The Jesuit JV baseball team now has 8 wins and 1 loss. Their league record is 2 wins and 0 losses. The game log is here.
