Sharon and I watched The Wolf of Wall Street as an HD rental on the AppleTV. The movie is based on based on Jordan Belfort's memoir of the same name. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Scorsese, Best Adapted Screenplay for Terrence Winter, and Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for DiCaprio and Hill, respectively, but failed to win in any category.
This is the eighth of the nine movies nominated for this year's Best Picture that we seen, including Nebraska, Philomena, 12 Year A Slave, Dallas Buyers Club, Captain Phillips, Gravity and American Hustle.
Although three hours long, the movie was better than I expected. I felt like it jumped the shark in a couple of places, but reading a little about Belfort's life, those sections might be more realistic than I can imagine.
