44 Years Ago

The last time that the Brewers were in the World Series was 44 years ago. The Milwaukee Brewers played the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1982 World Series. It was a hard-fought, thrilling seven-game series (often remembered as the "Cardinals vs. Harvey's Wallbangers" matchup). St. Louis ultimately won 4 games to 3.

My ex-wife and I went to a Halloween party that year at Buoy Way in Sacramento. Nooter and Geselbracht were living there in a duplex.

With a Brewers jersey and hat and a mask with shaggy hair, I went as Gorman Thomas. Gorman Thomas played center field for the Milwaukee Brewers; he started all 7 games of the series in center field. Thomas was not considered a handsome man.

Nooter dressed as a bottle of Tylenol. At time, Tylenol was being hacked to poison people. If my memory serves me right, Hunter came dressed as woman, while Devan was dressed as a man...

The two following pictures were taken July 4, 1980 at the Watson's cabin in Tahoe. The four of us--Cindy, Don, Kim and I--drove the next day to Bobby and Devan Hunter's wedding in Palo Alto. I dated Kim from late 1979 into the first quarter of 1981.

Drew has returned his SIR (Statement of Intent to Register) to UC Irvine and is planning to go there starting Fall of 2003!

I exchanged e-mails with Devan Hunter and Robbie has decided to attend Sonoma State.
