Hoping to roll by 7:45 am, it was 8:15 am before we left the house. We dropped Tiber at Best Friends and then dropped our luggage at the Stanford Court about 10:35 am. We got to Fort Funston about 11:10 am.
We ended up hiking 4.28 miles in an hour and fifty-two minutes of moving time. There was a great view of the coast from the observation deck where the hike starts. We had lunch at a picnic table along Lake Merced. Towards the end, we hiked through Pine Lake Park and Stern Grove; it was beautiful.
We stopped and caught an Uber back to our car at Vicente Street and 20th Avenue. At some point, we are going to come back and pick up the Double Cross Trail from there. The total trail is 14.2 miles long and ends at Pier 23.
Once we got back to our car, we headed to the Stanford Court Hotel to check-in. We got cleaned up and dressed for dinner. Jack showed up about 4 pm. The three of us had a drink in the bar at hotel.
Sharon made an early 5:45 pm dinner reservation at 7 Adams. We took an Uber to the restaurant.
We had the five course tasting menu. For third course, Jack and I had the saffron rigatoni [braised beef sugo, black garlic, smoked parmesan], while Sharon had kuri squash agnolouti [toasted pepitas, pecorino, sage]. For the fourth course, I had seared black cod [bone dashi, matsutake, sea urchin tare], while Sharon and Jack split washugyu ribeye for two [hasselback potato, broccoli di cicco, cipollini onion].
The food was solid, but nothing to write home about. Sharon said that they advertise as the least expensive tasting menu in San Francisco. I didn't realize until later that the restaurant has a Michelin Star. The dinner was a lot more expensive than I expected...
After dinner, we took a Waymo back to the hotel. It was a Waymo Ojai. Developed in collaboration with Geely’s electric vehicle brand Zeekr. The base vehicle is built in China with the Waymo technology added in Mesa, Arizona. It was custom-built from the ground up specifically for autonomous ride-hailing rather than retrofitting a standard production car. I am looking forward to Waymo being available in Sacramento!
