For Christmas in 2022, Sharon gave me an OURA ring. It is a smart ring used to track sleep and physical activity.
Over the last six months of 2023, my strengths continue to be training volume and the timing of my sleep cycle. My kryptonite has switched from recovery index to restfulness. I have done a better job with my recovery index; one of my retirement goals was to improve this metric.
My data for the first six months of 2023 is here. I am averaging almost 30 minutes less sleep a night in the second half of last year. I averaged 7 hours and 6 minutes a night in the first half of the year, compared to 6 hours and 37 minutes in the second half of 2023. I attribute most of this decline to a change in their algorithm in June.
