ESPN 30 for 30 Soccer Stories - Maradona ’86

While Sharon was in Spokane, I watched Maradona ’86. This is one of the 30 for 30 soccer stories that ESPN is running leading up to the 2014 World Cup. An episode guide is here.

The episode focuses on the 1986 World Cup. Maradona led Argentina to victory in the final over West Germany.

I had three general observations. First, a lot of the players look very small, particularly the goalies. The goalie that played for Atlético Madrid in the Champion's league would make most of these players look like midgets.

Second, Maradona looks like a water bug. He seems to be moving at a whole different speed.

Finally, the "Hand of God" play in the game against England is worth seeing!

This is the first of the set of 30 for 30 soccer stories that I have watched. I am going to try to bang out the rest during June.
