The Walbeck Elite played the Easton Cats at Sacramento City College. There are several players on the Cats that Jack has played with before, including Jeremy and Breyton. In fact, Jeremy's dad tried to recruit Jack for the Cats.
Leading off, Jack was 0 for 2 with two walks. In his first at-bat, he walked on seven pitches. Jack got picked off first base. With the count 1 and 2, Jack fouled off a pitch, took a ball and then grounded out to the shortstop in his second plate appearance. In his third at-bat, he walked on four pitches. He was forced out at second to end the inning on Cooper's fielders choice. With the count 0 and 1, Jack hit a grounder off the pitcher. The second baseman fielded the ball and threw him out at first.
Playing centerfield, Jack had one put-out.
Trailing 1 to 0 in the bottom of the third, the Elite pitcher walked five batters and gave up five runs. In the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, the Elite had runners on third base, but couldn't get the runner home. The Elite ended up losing the game by the score of 7 to 0. The scorecard is here.
Lee (0-3, 7 innings, ERA 17.0) was the losing pitcher.
Sitting with Alan, Ben and Rod, I was hoping that the Elite would have a better showing…
For the summer season, the Elite have a record of 2 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie. The game log is here.
The pitching is going to need to improve or its going to be a long summer. This is the first of four games in four days. The Elite will be playing in the Chase Tunquist Classic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
After the game, the Renterias, Wackmans and Heringers went to dinner at the Riverside Grill.
