2014 Walbeck Elite Game #8

The Walbeck Elite played the McNair Eagles in the first round of the Chase Tunquist Classic at McNair High School. This is a 19u wood bat tournament.

Leading off, Jack was 0 for 4 with 2 runs scored. He reached on errors twice. In his first at-bat, Jack hit the sixth pitch into right field. I thought that it might drop, but the outfielder was playing shallow and made a running catch for the out. Jack hit a 2 and 2 pitch for a hard grounder at the third base in his second plate appearance. The third base had trouble finding the handle and made a poor throw. Jack was safe and went to second on the overthrow. He scored from second on the error on Cooper's fly ball to right center. In his third at-bat, Jack lined a 2 and 2 pitch right at the third baseman for an out. It was a hard hit ball. Jack fouled off the first three pitches of his fourth plate appearance. He hit the fourth pitch for a hard grounded to the left side. Jack was safe at first on the error by the third baseman. He went to second a wild pitch and scored on Roessler's double to the left field fence.

Play centerfield, Jack had two put-outs.

Committing six errors and giving up four unearned runs, the Elite let the game slip away. The Elite lost the game by the score of 5 to 4. The scorecard is here.

Richardson (0-1, 1 blown save, 2.2 innings, ERA 2.63) was the losing pitcher.

The Elite will play the Elk Grove Gunners in the losers bracket of the tournament at 11:00 am on Saturday morning.
