Jesuit JV Baseball versus St. Mary's

The Jesuit Marauders JV baseball team traveled to Stockton to play the St. Mary's Rams. Last year, the Marauders beat the Rams twice [10 to 3 and 10 to 5] and lost once [7 to 3].

Leading off, Jack was 1 for 3 with a single, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. In his first at-bat, he grounded a 3 and 1 pitch to the right side and was thrown out at first. With the bases loaded and one out in the second inning, Jack drove a 1 and 1 pitch through the right side for a single and a RBI in his second plate appearance. He went to third on Nick's ground rule double, but ended the inning there when Sam flied out and Alex grounded out. In his third at-bat, Jack walked on five pitches. He went to second on a wild pitch, to third on Alex's single and scored on Jared's walk. Jack grounded a 1 and 0 pitch to the third baseman in his fourth plate appearance and was thrown out at first on a fairly close play. He is doing a great job of getting out of the box and hustling up the line.

Jack started in centerfield and play the entire five inning game there. He had one put-out on a high fly ball to right center. This was only one of two balls that got out of the infield. The other was a line drive base hit to left field.

The Marauders scored eight runs in the top of the third and chased the starting pitcher. The Marauders won the game by the score of 12 to 0. The box score is here and the scorecard is here.

Cosca (1-0, 2 Starts, 6 innings, ERA 3.50) was the winning pitcher. In two starts and six innings, he has struck out eight and walked four.

The Jesuit JV baseball team now has 4 wins and 1 loss. The game log is here. The Marauders next game is Friday, March 21 against Davis. They will be playing at Raley Field! Last year, the Marauders beat the Blue Devils in their only meeting by the score of 6 to 0 behind a complete game by Chiappe.
