2009 LYB Minor Twins Game #12

Jack played in his twelfth game of the 2009 Laguna Youth Baseball Minor League Season. The Twins played against the Yankees. There was one player on the other team that we knew; Mak played on Scott's fall ball team and has played occasionally with the Gunners. The Twins lost to the Yankees in the fourth game of the season by the score of 17 to 9.

At the plate, Jack was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. In his first at-bat, he ran the count to 3 and 2 and then blooped a double down the third base line. Jack stole third. He then did something that I have never seen him attempt before. On a passed ball, he came about a third of the way down the line towards home. The catcher looked him back, but Jack only took one step back towards third. When the catcher flipped the ball to the pitcher, Jack broke for home. He slid home safe under the tag from the catcher taking the return throw from the pitcher.

In his second plate appearance with the bases loaded, Jack hit a grounder up the middle. The ball bounced off the mound and hit the shortstop in the face. The ball bounced to the pitcher who threw the ball to second for the force out. In his third at-bat, Jack drove a 0 and 2 pitch into left field for single. He eventually came around to score.

Jack played five fairly uneventful innings at third. With runners on first and second, he took a throw from the shortstop for a force out and then whipped the ball to first just barely missing getting the runner. Jack also took a throw from Denis at catcher to tag out a runner trying to steal third.

The Twins won the game by a score of 12 to 6. Their record for the season is 5 wins, 6 losses and 1 tie. The next three games are against the best teams in the minor league division (Dodgers, Giants and Rockies with a combined record of 24 wins and 7 losses).
