For 25 straight years, I have spent part of a week every summer with the Tomasin's, Hunter's, Wallen's, Snipes and others. For the first 22 years, we stayed at the Dorado Inn at Lake Almanor. When the Dorado Inn changed ownership, we got bumped and spent two years at the Tsasdi Resort on Lake Shasta.
Julie and Joy worked to get the group back into the Dorado Inn this year. Part of the group ended up getting back into there. Hunter rented a house near Chabrier's house. Jack and I will be spending part of the week there with him. Jack starts football on Monday so he and I will be heading back. I am hoping to get back for a couple of nights in the middle of the week. For the second straight year, none of Hunter's kids will be here this week.
After lifting at the club in the morning, Jack and I loaded up and rolled from Carmichael about 2:00 p.m. We made great time. We got to the Dorado Inn about 5:10 p.m. as the Tomasins and Snipes were starting to unload.
The Dorado Inn bought the property to the south and remodeled it. The new property has a very nice deck overlooking the lake. We hung out there waiting for Hunter.
Eventually, we got everyone rounded up and headed to Westwood for a very late dinner. The tradition has always been to go to Buffalo Chips for pizza. After dinner, a group made a quick stop to check out Chucks before heading back to the cabins. By the time, Hunter, Chabrier, Jack and I got to the house and to bed it was after midnight.
