2011 PAL Varsity Comp Basketball SEAS versus St. John Evangelist

The SEAS Eagles played the second game of the Christian Brothers tournament against St. John Evangelist. The St. John Evangelist team is very tall. SEAS lost to SJE in the semi-finals of the flag football play-offs last fall. I noted at the time that the SJE players average 4 to 6 inches taller than the SEAS players.

I believe that the St. John Evangelist is undefeated. They won both the Jesuit and Presentation tournaments.

The Eagles ran out to a surprising 7 to 0 lead in the first quarter and led 9 to 6 at the end of the first quarter. Unfortunately, the roof fell in second quarter. SJE's size and the quality of their best player was just too much. The Eagles were outscored 20 to 8 in the second quarter to trail by the score of 26 to 17 at halftime. Ahead by the score of 38 to 28 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, SJE scored four quick baskets to put the game out of reach.

SEAS lost the game by the score of 51 to 28. The box score is here.

Jack ended up playing 5 minutes of the 28 minute game. He was 0 for 1 from three point range. Jack added one rebound and one steal.

The SEAS Eagles now have 8 wins and 6 losses for the season. The game log is here.
