2019 Napa Valley - Day 2

At The Hess CollectionIt was a little bit of a lazy morning. Jack watched Tottenham beat Bournemouth by the score of 3 to 2 in the hotel room at the Marriott, while Sharon and I had breakfast in the concierge lounge.

The plan for the morning was a museum walk and wine tasting at The Hess Collection. The Hess Art Collection is one of the world's most important private collections of contemporary art. We had a very nice guided tour of the museum; it was great to have someone explain the artists and the pieces. It is one of the few times that I can say that I have actually enjoyed contemporary art.

After the tasting, we headed to the Oxbow Public Market for lunch. It was packed with people. We waited in line and had lunch at the Hog Island Oyster Company. We have eaten there several times before. After splitting some oysters, I had Rustic Seafood Stew [shellfish, spicy herb-tomato broth, grilled levain toast], while Sharon and Jack both had Chowder [Manila clams, aromatic vegetables, bacon, potatoes, cream].

The drive home was easy. Surprisingly, except for where Highway 12 hits Interstate 80, we never really hit any traffic.
