Jesuit JV Baseball versus Oak Ridge

The Jesuit Marauders JV baseball team played the Oak Ridge Trojans in the first game of a three game series over the next three days. The Marauders beat the Trojans by the scores of 10 to 5 and 19 to 16 last year.

Jack had one of his best days of the year at the plate. Leading off, he was 3 for 3 with 2 singles, 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases, a double, an intentional walk and an RBI. In his first at-bat, Jack drove a 1 and 2 pitch into right center for a single. He stole third and scored on Cosca's double. On the seventh pitch of his second plate appearance, Jack crushed a ball to left center for a double. It may be the farthest ball that I have seen hit this season at home. It bounced against the varsity fence. I am going to try and remember to pace it off on Wednesday to get an idea of how far it was hit. He stole third, but ended the inning there when Cosca flied out to right. In his third at-bat, Jack grounded the first pitch through the left side for a single and an RBI (Kyle). Sogard was thrown out trying to go from first to third to end the inning. Jack was walked intentionally in the fourth plate appearance!?! I don't believe that I have ever seen him walked intentionally before. He scored on Iwasa's triple to right.

Playing centerfield for five innings, Jack had one put-out.

With the starting pitcher struggling, the Marauders fell behind by the score of 5 to 4 in the top of the second. Behind a strong relief performance, the Marauders bounced back and chewed up the Oak Ridge pitching. Jack and Alex were both three for three. The Marauders won the game by the score of 15 to 5 in six innings. The box score is here and the scorecard is here.

Child (3-1, 1 save, 0 starts, 11 appearances, 22.00 innings, ERA 2.86) was the winning pitcher.

The Jesuit JV baseball team now has 22 wins and 4 losses. Their league record is 12 wins and 1 loss. The game log is here.
