On Day 87, I rode 8.7 miles across northeastern Kansas. Starting at the intersection of Highway 36 and St Columbus Road outside of Wathena, Kansas, I headed east on Highway 36. Exiting the highway on East St Joseph Street, I took Vernon Road to Roseport Road through the town of Elwood and past the Elwood Pony Express Stables [N 39° 45.054 W 094° 52.229]. Getting back on Highway 36, I crossed the Missouri River. Exiting the highway at 10th Street in St. Joseph, I rode down 10th to Penn Street. Turning left, I ended the ride at the Pony Express National Museum [N 39° 45.360 W 094° 50.938].
Since starting this ride almost two and a half years ago, I have been following the Pony Express Trail east. This marks the eastern end of the trail. I have not yet decided what route to take as I continue east…
