a difficult three and a half years

I have enjoyed my nine and a half years at Ad/ventist Health, but the last three and a half years have been difficult.

I had to personally layoff employees in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The impact on their lives has recently been driven home to me in a very personal way.

IT has had four different CIOs during this period. I have had four different bosses: Matt, Tyler, Brett and Jennifer.

There has been unrelenting pressure to cut the budget and reduce the headcount.

In the face of COVID in March of 2020, we shifted to work from home in 48 hours. Supporting thousands of employees working from home and managing teams working remotely across an increasingly spread out geographic footprint has been a challenge.

I worry about the long term impact on the development of future leaders from the work from home strategy.
