Parks and Recreation - Season One

Sharon and I finished watching season one of Parks and Recreation. We have been talking about watching the series ever since we read Stories I Only Tell My Friends: An Autobiography by Rob Lowe.

Season one only has six episodes. It aired from April 9, 2009 to May 14, 2009.

The series stars Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope, a perky, mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks Department of the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. The ensemble and supporting cast features Rashida Jones [On the Rocks] as Ann Perkins, Paul Schneider as Mark Brendanawicz, Aziz Ansari as Tom Haverford, Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson, Aubrey Plaza [White Lotus Season Two] as April Ludgate, Chris Pratt [Passengers, Her] as Andy Dwyer, Jim O'Heir as Garry "Jerry" Gergich, Retta as Donna Meagle, and Billy Eichner as Craig Middlebrooks. Pratt rose to prominence playing Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation.

I had read that season one is rough and the weakest season of the show. This is definitely true. The characters are not very well developed. The tone of the show is uneven. It feels like it is trying too hard to be like The Office. It will be interesting to see how the show grows and develops over time. We are already started watching season two.
