A train wreck... Jack played in his 14th game of the 2008 little league baseball season against the Angels. It was about 100 degrees when the game started.
Tim was on the other team. Tim goes to the same school as Jack and is in the cub scout pack. We have gotten to be friends with Tim's parents.
Jack's team seemed extremely sluggish in the heat. Additionally, they were missing their oldest player who is one of their best pitchers and hitters.
At the plate, Jack went 1 for 2. He was out on a high pop-up to the left side in his first at bat. Jack walked in his second plate appearance. In his his third at bat, he hit an infield single that drove in two runs. He tried to make it to third and was caught in a rundown. Jack and the third baseman went down in a heap.
Jack played shortstop for four innings.
The coaches of the two teams spent a couple of innings barking at each other.
The Padres lost by a score of 19 to 3. Their record is now 6 wins, 7 losses and 1 tie. Although I cannot, I would prefer to just erase the whole game from my memory...
