ESPN 30 for 30 - Small Potatoes: Who Killed the USFL?

Running on the treadmill on Wednesday night, I watched Small Potatoes: Who Killed the USFL. Celebrating ESPN’s 30 year anniversary, this is part of a documentary series featuring thirty films from an all-star cast of filmmakers.. ESPN has been running a new documentary every week; this is the third in the series.

The documentary does a great job of summarizing the three year rise and fall of the United States Football League (USFL). I am frankly amazed at how well they told the story in less than hour. The story of the USFL includes Herschel Walker, Mike Rozier, Reggie White, Jim Kelly, Steve Young, Brian Snipes, Burt Reynolds and Donald Trump.

There is also a podcast interview of Mike Tollin, the producer, by Bill Simmons that is a nice supplement to the documentary.
