Yosemite Day 2

Up fairly early, we had breakfast in the Ahwahnee Dining Room. With few people up and moving around yet, we got a great table in the west end of the dining room.

We brought our road bikes with us. The plan for the morning was explore the valley by bike. We took our time and made a number of stop including the Visitor Center, Lower Yosemite Falls, the Chapel, Curry Village and Mirror Lake. In total, we covered more than 9 miles in about 2 hours.  We essentially traveled almost all of the bike trails in the Valley.

I have never ridden a bike in the Yosemite Valley before.  It is a great way to wander around.  You can cover a lot more ground and still stop and enjoy the views as travel along.

We got back to the hotel about 11 a.m.  We packed up the car and started back towards Elk Grove about 11:45 a.m.  We made a quick stop for lunch at a Mexican restaurant in Groveland.  Instead of taking highway 120 back through Oakdale, I cut across to Copperopolis and came down highway 4.  We were back in Elk Grove to pick up Jack about 3:30 p.m.

a very nice short getaway...
